I received a facebook update from an acquaintance in New Zealand who was close to the quake. Good news. I realized how small the world gets when you visit faraway lands and meet people. A few have become good friends and others, maybe just a note here and there on facebook, but I realize I start caring more about what happens in the world. It's kind of easy when it is out of sight and out of mind when disaster is not in your backyard. Granted we do have to take care of ourselves and at times be a little selfish in order to find our happiness. We can't always solve the world's problems BUT we still can make a difference in someone's life whether it is being there for them, volunteering your help, anything to make things just a little bit better for someone else. My thoughts go out to those in need be it NZ, Egypt, Libya... It's a small world and we are short on time believe it or not. 80-90 years of life (if you're lucky) is not that long in the grand scheme of things. Be good to yourself and others and make those years count.

I figure us writers have to stick together.

I guess I feel I am just to busy getting some actual writing done that, I don't have time for this blogging. It's like everyone and their mother has a blog and they like to do stuff like share recipes, one night stands, their son's artwork or use it like Twitter and tell us they are in line at the supermarket buying cheese. Really, I don't care and you might not care about this. I am just doing this to write and always practice my craft. Like pro athletes, us writers have to keep this stuff up and stay in shape. So here is my second attempt at keeping this going.

Hopefully this won't be it for another 9 months.

I specifically finished my website before my little adventure down under so I could blog out about those same adventures. Didn't quite happen that way. I guess you could say I was having too much fun and to damn busy to keep up with a journal. Of course I did have my trusty little Moleskin in my back pocket to at least make little notes on things.

When I get around to it, I will put up pics as well, unfortunately my brand spanking new website is being a little troublesome. I could describe things in detail if you would like? No? Picture is worth a thousand words anyway.

For those of you keeping up on my facebook, then you have already seen some pictures of Australia and New Zealand. But I also have stories as well. Keep an eye out for those here.

Tonight, I write this in my new office in my new pad on the beach. Yes, I'm pretty proud of where I have found myself as of late. Some of you know of some hardships I have had in the past year or two. Just now getting things together. "The wheels are in motion" as Jerry said to Babu in an episode of Seinfeld Hopefully I don't end up in Pakistan.(Seinfeld: MY13 at 10 and 10:30pm, I've pretty much memorized every episode so keep up).

I am settling in just find in my office. The past 8 years or so, I was in this little dinky studio and I could not write there whatsoever. I made frequent trips to coffee shops just to keep writing. Now, I don't see a problem since it's a Friday Night and I would rather be here. I have a lot of catching up to do.

So stay tuned as I should be updating my website and my journal on a more regular basis.
